Here are some wip pictures of the Muscovites I'm currently working on.
First there are pictures with base colours.

Reiters. Most the figures in the two boxes I bought a couple of years ago were only these two types.
I think I'll try to by some different sculpts from Wilanow this spring.Obrazek

Field dragoons. I really like these guys.

Troops with base colours are full of little errors. Next are pictures with Army Painter Dark Tone Ink applied. It will hide most of the mistakes. ObrazekObrazek

Next phase is to paint each colour (sans gunmetal blue) again. I usually start with flesh.

Edited quite a few times. I shouldn't try to write with my mobile phone. X|

Hi again!
It took some time, but here are the finished field dragoons and reiters. They are going to see some action today. Hopefully they proof to be worthy of their new paint coats on the battlefield.ObrazekObrazekObrazekObrazek

They look better from afar. These closeups show all their little mistakes and such. Also they suffer from the lack of my skill with camera.
I'm still quite pleased how they turned up.

Reiters looked impressive. Dragoons actually contributed to Muscovite victory.

Wow, those are very good looking units! Even though the Reiters are composed of only two varieties of figures.

Question: I see you painted the cuirasses and helmets of the Reiters in a very dark metal, almost black. I think that looks really good with these models. Indeed, I did the same with my own Muscovite Reiters. However, I'm wondering how historically accurate that actually is, because apart from the BFAS artwork, most of the representations (both drawings and re-enactors) seem to be wearing lighter metal coloured armour.

What worked well for me in terms of adding variety was to add a Lancer Rota figure as a standard bearer for the squadron and to add a few Polish horses mixed in. I'm guessing most of the Muscovite horses would have been variants of steppe breeds they bought from their southeastern neighbours, rather than the big Swedish style horses, so the Polish horses should work.

Thanks for the compliments.

I'm not really sure about historical accuracy of the black/blue armour.
It just looks better in my opinion.

Few pictures from the game we played with Juha today.
The scenario was defend the village with my 11fsp Muscovites attacking Juhas 7fsp Swedish detachment. Juha suffered fron recon effects and quite bad luck, so it was 7-0 victory for my troops.

Field dragoons shot the musketeers from the buildings while the rest of my army was trying to keep Juha's forces occupied. My reiters performed a carracole in the last round. That was all they did. :P

6 Force points. 5 recon points.
And yup, delayed reiters, forced march, ambush and encircling movement gave ample challenges. :-)
Good day to my commander and unexpected reinforcements did not really balance out allthough good day as used frequently.
The Muscovite dragoons performed excellently in shooting the other musketeer company to pieces.
(3 strong companies were not very economic to deploy into village, but life is tough.)

Some bad luck with dice, but Olofeus had solid plan and his troops could pull it off without greater mishaps. And a very nice game again.
