Revised Skirmish Forces/Task Forces

As you could hear yesterday in the Konrad's movie we'll be doing some revision of currently published Skirmish Forces and Task Forces to make some of them more competitive for tournament play. Our task is bringing more balance of the force not destroying it though. We don't want to create 'ultimate forces' which will be obvious choices, but allowing each faction to have few equivalent choices to both give you a joy of using different tactics and not letting your opponent guessing easily what force you will play..

The first Skirmish Force we have revised is Transylvanian Combat Patrol (1648-1660). The main problem with this Skirmish Force is.. well..uhm.. it, there is not much combat here and it's less offensive force then Pillanging Raid, while should be quite opposite. The solution is allowing to change light household from the base of the Skirmsh Force to enlisted lancers. It will give you much more offensive push, but it still not 100% obvious choice as you will have less Reconnaissance points and more units with 'Robbers' special rule. We have decided also to add one more level to the Skirmish Force allowing you in consequence to field 2 or even 3 lancers units (one unit of Household lancers and 1-2 units of Enlisted lancers). Now you have a lot of choices and there are no reallly bad ones.

You can download new list from our website:

Please let us know what do you think about those changes, We would like to receive your feedback to create more diversity at your tables. Obviously we can't change all Skirmish Forces as it would lead to neverending arms race. We believe that some precise changes can do a lot of good things.

Did you think we'll show you only one updated Skirmish Force today? No way! Two adjusted Skirmish Forces mean twice as much fun :)

The second force we're changing is Prussian Territorial Defense (1655-1660). It has two big advantages. The first one is 'defensive skirmish force' special rule and the second are boomsticks (I'm sure you can catch the reference) - old type muskets. Few years ago it was enough to be considered as strong army list, but it's not enough today. Prussian villages are plundered and burned by almost all armies. It's time to stop it! Significant changes were necessary. First we we decided more bases are required, so one additional level has been added: this allow to field more troops: both Prussian and Brandenburgian (Regulars). The secong change were commanders. Captain is free now and if you field him as infantry captain it comes with additional infantry bases (to compensate small mobility). Lt. Colonel can get addtional Command Point for free if you field at least 4 bases of Regulars (you need to be skilled commander to get big unit to command, do you?). We have also introduced an option to field Prussian dragoons (first time at the Skirmish level) - they don't have Poor Tactical Discipline as the only one Prussian unit. Finally look at the changes in the 'Defend Prussia at all cost' special rule. Now you can re-roll up to two failed Morale tests!

What do you think about those changes?

PS. That's not all we have prepared for Brandenburg and Prussia this week...
