I want to build a Polish skirmish force that combines both infantry and cavalry. Using HOUSE RULES is the following a good and logical build?:

Foreign Contingent List - New Type

FSP 3 points 4 x 6 man Infantry Company with 2 command points

FSP 1 point 1 x 6 man Pancerni banner

FSP 1 point 1 x 6 man Cossack banner

FSP 1 point 1 x additional command point

Total 6 FSP

Or:

FSP 5 points 1 x Pancerni, 1 x Wallachians, 2 x Cossack style (6 men each), with 3 command points

FSP 1 point 1 x 9 man musketeers

Jerry

So basically, you want to create your own skirmish army list?

I think others can help with working out the balance, but for clarity's sake I'd describe everything in terms of the number of bases in a unit, rather than the number of men (by which you mean figures?) in the unit. Since it's a scaled down game, number of figures is more or less irrelevant. It's the number of bases that counts.

Correct.

FSP 3: 8 bases mercenaries
FSP 1: 2 - 3 bases Pancerni/Cossack Style
ESP 1: 2 - 3 bases Cossack Style
2 - 3 command points

This is something I am looking for. How should this be changed or modified to make it a viable balanced force? Is there an existing force like this and if so, how is it structured?

Your cavalry units are 2-3 banners of different types of cavalry, they cannot be combined into a squadron, separately they will be a hell to command - you'll need to spend a CP on every banner, if you want to charge. Focus on cossacks style cavalry or pancerni (in the second case, if your partners will allow you to play a less balanced list - pancerni have better armour, and in most armylist you can't field them, if you won't buy different units like twice as much CSC). I suggest playing standard army lists, Slutsk is similar to yor first list. I'm affraid you won't get much feedback, as testing every skirmish list takes a lot of time and no one will do it for you. Generally in PLC:
- you pay 1FP for every banner (two bases), if you want to expand your banners you pay 1FP for 2 additional bases. The only exception are volunteers: 6 bases for 1 FP, but you can field them only once.
- no more than half of your units can be pancerni
- no more then half of your pancerni and CSC (counted together) can have spears.
There are some exceptions, and in some list you can field more elite units (but the army list is more expensive in FP), or you can field reiters (mostly in lithuanian army lists), an infantry based skirmish can get "Defensive skirmish" special rule, etc.

For playing with friends and to get involved into the game with forces that you have, I suppose I would make something like this below.

Of course, it should be expanded (all for +1 FSP per item) by:
1-2 banners of Tatar or Wallachian cavalry or another pancerni / CSCav
*OR*
1-2 companies of dragoons and - maybe - a light gun.
Additional units would probably need another commander with # for +1 FSP.

In any case - have fun! :)

Thanks. The only rule book I have is the revised edition. Are the musketeer companies, new pattern, the same as foreign mercenaries, new type, or at least have the same statistics?

Yup. Just another name for them. Even originally in Polish we call them in few ways. Sorry for inconvenience.

Thanks again. I really like the list and will use it for the first time on Wednesday.

In local club games would it be appropriate to use Wallachians as Tartars?

That's the question you should ask your local gamers, not us :)
