What happens when a unit flees from firing while charging? The rules are clear enough, that test from loses are taken right away, but what does the charging unit do? There has been no combat, so there cant be a pursue. We ruled that the charges reverted to move order, but in this case, that was actually best for the defender, as they had most surely been destroyed in combat. The good result from shooting while charging was actually best for the fleeing defender, as they fleed further into a build up area, rallied and got a new defend order for another round of defensive fire, without having to survive combat.

Is this correct?

If you manage to panic the defending unit and it flees, you don't fight in the first round of combat, but you pursue enemy as normal. Remember you can't give unit an order after it rallies from fleeing, so in this situation it doesn't give fleeing unit a huge advantage.
According to new rules coveres in small rulebook, unit counts as being in combat every time it has contact with enemy.

Okay. So even though there was no actual combat in the first round, the charging unit still gets to follow up. Yuo say this is specified in the small rule book. Is there nothing about it in the old rule book?

Anyway
Thanks for your answer.
