Hello to you all, just got my copy of BFaS and really am impressed by the book, puts many of my other rules books to shame ;) I have been playing table top wargames for around 20 years now and started of back in the day with 15mm ancients DBA DBM etc but then moved on to 28mm scale playing Warhammer Ancient Battles and recently SAGA and War & Conquest. However, I am now planning on returning to 15mm and playing BFaS.

I am planning on building 2 skirmish sized armies, Polish and Ottoman and in the future hope to expand these until my wife divorces me ;)

So I have a question regarding skirmish level games. Can we use the Regiment Card for Skirmish level games or are Regiment Cards just for building Divisional Army Lists? Given that the Regiment Cards have a FSP value, I am thinking that the answer is yes we can use them for skirmish Level games but I just want to check before I plan and purchase the required figures for the 2 Skirmish Forces.

Many thanks.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome! :)

Regarding your questions - with just a few exceptions regiments can't be used at Skirmish level games.

Welcome Paul!

I was wondering about the same question when I started out and got the same answer. Now I'm curious though: apparently some regiments CAN be used in a Skirmish game? Which ones specifically?

You always have information on Regiments Sheet about it: P-L Commonwealth Volunteers, Cossack Rabble Pulk, Tartar Nogai Chambul.

If it has a % number in the corner then it is a Regiment and can't be used for Skirmish games.

Courland is primary a skirmish, secondary a Allied regiment, so it's slightly different from examples above.

Yes some Regiments will also state that they can be used for Skirmish games. Cossack Rabble for example.

If you're ever in Scarborough and want a game our local club meets most Monday and Thursday nights. There are quite a few locals that are familiar with the game. I have a spare skirmish force if you want to borrow one.
