I picked up BFaS at Rapier 2016. Tomasz has hooked another fish X| Three of us from my local club ,The Ocala Garrison, were at Rapier and played in Tomasz Demos. Two of us left with armies and rules. So the infection spreads. iconSWE

Welcome to a great game, and (as far as I'm concerned) a great community!

Cheers,
Zagin

Welcome to the community! I assume you picked up Swedes?
A very nice army. 8)

(As I experienced it, you also need to know what your enemy can do, as the Swedes are slow...)

Yes I picked up the Swedish skirmish force box set to start off. I am planning on getting the Pike battalion box next. I will Follow that with Some Reiter companies. I realize that the Swedes aren't the most mobile force in the game but I prefer infantry.

So you're going for the Swedish detachment skirmish first? I was once foolish enough to charge into a line of 6 musketeer bases, before I learnt what a volley of 'Salvo' or 'Ranked Fire' can do. Ouch! :P

I also fear that this game is going to be very bad for for me. Like a gateway drug. Usually with a new game I go minis first than rules. This one has been rather backwards. While I have already picked up the skirmish force I have yet to assemble it, which is odd for me. The revised Rule book on the other hand I have devoured. It led me to some great youtube movies with subtitles. I also have ordered some rather expensive history books as I have a desire to know more of the actual history in which the game the is set. I also now realize that I need another rule book to properly plan my force which goes by the same name as one of the history books, The Deluge, I just ordered :D. The rule book will come at that beginning of next month along with the infantry box.

If you mean the book by Henryk Sienkiewicz it is more like historical novel than a strict history book. (It is great book, though)

It is easy to catch fish when the game is such good bait and BFaS is a great game. Tomasz is very passionate and that is infectious! Welcome to the community. You will love this game and the support you get from the team.
