Hello all, this is my first topic here.

I am new to BF&S and though that Prussian territorial defens would list would suite me fine.
It´s defensive and not to much to paint. I have been looking at Curland also which seams to be similar.

My questions is what kind of models should I buy and what colours and inspiration material exist on colours of the uniforms and equipment.

Regards
Torbjörn

Welcome Torbjörn!
Models: for cavalry and dragoons Swedish models will do fine, we will publish some Brandenburg models later for for know Swedes are ok. For Prussian musketeers were have special models, that were released via Kickstarter and are sometimes available on some events (like Salute 2014), also 'old type' mercenary musketeers are fine (but set is not available for sale now, so only second-hand option available).
Colours: it should be mix of typical colours for 17th century, as militia didn't have any set up colour. There's quite a lot of reference that can be find about Brandenburg army online but historical accuracy of these is very questionable. In 1614 there was a plan to equip Prussian militia with some sort of uniforms, idea was to have:
- company in red coats
- company in yellow coats
- company in blue coats
- company in green and white (mix) coats
- company in white-grey coats
- company in red and blue (mix) coats
I believe it was never put from theory to practie though but at least give You idea what You can use :)

There are none that I know about, sadly armies that fought during 1655-1660 war suffer from lack of proper colour propaganda pieces that we can use as inspiration :)

Research could eventually yield results, yet suspect it's more likely going to come from someone who can read the languages of the time, and is able to spend the time, energy, and perhaps even money to locate appropriate results.

Some of the Brandenburgian models are wearing some curious cap. What is this? Is this a helmet or some kind of cloth cap?
