Hi there
It is located near Copenhagen in Denmark. They are in top of the old Brønshøj Museum (same city where the Swedish Carlstad was located) which are now a building called Ryttergården. This building was one week after I saw the exhibition given over to a boy scouts club and now I think the future is unclear for the collection. But I am sure it will be on display in a few months somewhere. At least I hope so!

Cheers
Draccan

Let's start a fundraiser to keep the collection in save hands and available to the public. :D

So apparently DR (Danish national broadcaster) is working on a tv series on the history of Denmark, to be shown in 2017. Below are some photos from a 17th century reenactment at Høvelte Kasserne:

These guys are probably the Christian V Drabant Garde. More pics here:

They look nice but slightly outside BFaS timeline ;-)

Technically yes, but having just painted a SWE-5 Swedish infantry regiment I'm damned if I can see any difference. Some of the pikemen even have later-style long jackets like the officer pictured. However, when standard uniforms came into vogue during the absolutist years of Christian V, the regular line regiments would have been clad in grey, as the red uniforms weren't standardized until 1711.

These uniforms do look like a bit outside the BF&S time frame, yet it si still good to see this kind of thing shown on here. Thank you!

So, finally some footage has surfaced. As I suspected, this is a reenactment of the storming of Copenhagen on February 11th, 1659, which should be firmly within the BFAS timeline. The reeanctor groups are the Zealand Musketeer Guards and the Christian V Drabant Guards. Despite the name of the latter, the real Drabant Guard was formed in 1563 and very much active in the defense of Copenhagen until they were incorporated into the army in 1660.

As for the uniforms shown, it is impossible to say whether they are period correct since there is about zero source materials until the the Scanian War 1675-79. The best description of the preceding period – taken from the mighty 2014 tome Kongens Klæder – reads:

Quote:
...a large, black or grey felt hat with wide brim, possibly edged with coloured tape and adorned with feathers. The coat (cassock) is knee length, single breasted, with large turned-up cuffs and pocket flaps, normally without a collar [...] Legs usually covered with buff suede breeches, knitted stockings and boots or ankle shoes with buckles. Sword and bandolier belts were in buff leather...

Which looks pretty similar to me, and indeed also to the officially sanctioned miniatures. There is some speculation though that the red Drabant Guard uniforms might have been parade dress, as the only other depiction from the period shows yellow coats. At least they should be at least as accurate as the photographs in the rulebooks.
